These Release Notes apply to Adabas SAF Security Version 8.4.1. Read this document carefully before installing and using this version of Adabas SAF Security.
Adabas SAF Security (ADASAF) provides protection of Adabas resources using standard security packages in a z/OS operating system environment based on the System Authorization Facility (SAF). These security packages include RACF, Top Secret, and ACF2.

This section provides an overview of new features for Adabas SAF Security Version 8.4.1
Adabas SAF Security provides protection for Adabas Audit Server administration functions by preventing unauthorized use of such functions.
With version 8.4 SP1 of Adabas SAF Security, this protection is available when Adabas Manager, operator commands, or utilities are used to perform Adabas Audit Server administration.
For further information regarding the protection of Adabas Audit Server administration functions using Adabas SAF Security, refer to the section Operation in Adabas Audit Server.
Adabas SAF Security provides protection for Adabas Event Replicator Server administration functions by preventing unauthorized use of such functions.
With version 8.4 SP1 of Adabas SAF Security, this protection is available when Adabas Manager, operator commands, or utilities are used to perform Adabas Event Replicator Server administration.
For further information regarding the protection of Adabas Event Replicator Server administration functions using Adabas SAF Security, refer to the section Operation in Adabas Event Replicator Server.
Adabas SAF Security support for ENF signal types 62, 71, and 79 was added with Adabas SAF Security version 8.4 SP1 in conjunction with Adabas Limited Library (WAL) version 8.5 SP4 Patch level 1.
An ENF signal type 62 may be issued to listeners when a
SETROPTS RACLIST
command affects in-storage profiles
used for authorization checking.
An ENF signal type 71 may be issued to listeners when a
CONNECT
, REMOVE

command has affected a user’s group
connections.
An ENF signal type 79 may be issued to listeners when a
PERMIT

command has affected a user’s or group’s authorizations to resources. However,
note that Adabas SAF Security only supports an ENF signal type 79 which affects
a user’s authorization to resources.

The new AAFCMD tool provides operation and reporting functions for Adabas SAF Security running in an Adabas nucleus, an Adabas Audit Server, an Adabas Event Replicator Server, or an Adabas System Coordinator daemon. AAFCMD is invoked using Natural in batch mode.

This section provides an overview of enhancements from previous versions for Adabas SAF Security Version 8.4.1
Adabas SAF Security Version 8.4.1 incorporates all fixes to previous versions.
Adabas SAF Security Version 8.4.1 includes updates to the online services (SYSAAF) to show more information on the System Parameters screen (option 8 from the SYSAAF Main Menu).
The Help screens for System Parameters are updated to include reference to the configuration parameters from which the settings are derived.
