It is assumed that you have read the introductory document Internationalization with EntireX and are familiar with the various internationalization approaches.

This version of EntireX does not support ECS conversion (see Internationalization Changes and Migration Hints.) This document will assist you in migrating from ECS conversion to ICU conversion by helping you to find relevant ICU converters to use as replacements for an ECS conversion codepage.

Table of ICU to ECS Compatibility

The following table compares ICU codepages (converters) with ECS conversion codepages.

Please note:

• There are generally several possible ICU converters that can replace an ECS conversion codepage.

• ICU converters that are delivered with EntireX are indicated in the table by an x in the column Installed with EntireX.

• There may be other possible ICU converters not listed here.

• No comparison is available for algorithmic and partially algorithmic ICU converters.

• The table does not list all of the ICU Converters delivered with EntireX, only those which may be candidates for ECS conversion codepage replacements.

• The table also lists ICU Converters not delivered with EntireX if they are candidates for ECS conversion codepage replacements. See the column Installed with EntireX in the table below. See ICU Converter Explorer in the ICU Resources section of the introduction for the list of ICU Converters provided with EntireX.

• The focus of the following table is on migrating from ECS to ICU.

  • 100% compatibility is assigned if all code points defined in ECS are compatibly defined in ICU, even if ICU defines more code points, fallbacks, substitution sequences and reverse fallbacks.

  • 100% compatibility ensures all characters converted by ECS are identically converted by ICU. Substitution characters are not taken into account.
